Faster by Air.
Sooner to Care.
When an animal in trouble is too far for the road, we fly. Domestic or wild, the sooner we reach them, the sooner they get the care that changes everything.

Every number here started as a phone call and a full tank of fuel.
Call. Fly. Care.
The call comes in
A shelter, rescuer, or wildlife partner reaches out with an animal that needs to get somewhere fast.
We fly the mission
Jayson plots the route and lifts off in C-GIOT — reaching in hours what would take a full day by road.
Care begins sooner
The animal lands where the help is waiting: a vet, a sanctuary, a foster, a second chance.
Every mission runs on more than goodwill
Jayson donates the hours and the skill for free. Keeping C-GIOT fuelled, maintained, and hangared is what turns a phone call into a rescue — and it's exactly what your support pays for.
Fuel
The biggest cost of every flight — and the difference between reaching an animal today or not at all.
Maintenance
A 1959 airframe kept meticulously airworthy, inspection by inspection.
Hangar storage
A safe home base that keeps the aircraft ready to launch the moment a call comes in.
Insurance & fees
Coverage and landing fees that come with every mission we fly.
Latest rescues
One pilot. One plane. A lot of second chances.
Big to the Rescue is a volunteer operation that transports domestic and wild animals in need — by air. The faster we complete a mission, the sooner the animal receives care, and often that speed makes all the difference.
Jayson has been a high flier since his school days, setting high-jump records back east. A longtime paragliding instructor, he shifted his focus to powered flight — and these days you'll most likely find him flying a rescue mission, taking friends on adventures, or working toward his next rating.
Every flight is donated time and skill. What keeps the aircraft in the air — fuel, maintenance, landing fees — is what your support makes possible.
Help keep us flying
Big to the Rescue is a mission of the heart
During a paragliding trip to Costa Rica back in 2009, Jayson landed in a field near the town of Parrita on New Year's Day and was greeted by a starving stray puppy.
That little dog returned to Canada and became the first in a line of rescue dogs that continues to this very day.
Today, equipped with a trusty single-engine airplane (C-GIOT), Jayson volunteers his time to assist local rescue organizations across the Pacific Northwest — delivering supplies and quickly transporting seals, dogs, birds, and animals of all kinds from remote areas to rehabilitation centres and new forever homes.
C-GIOT is vital to every mission
Mission log
The flying is donated. The fuel isn't.
Jayson gives his time and his skill for free. Your gift covers what a rescue flight actually costs — the fuel in the tanks, the maintenance that keeps C-GIOT safe, and the landing fees along the way.
Fuel a rescue
Roughly one leg of a typical mission — enough to reach an animal a full day's drive away.
- Directly funds flight fuel
